Is the Supply Chain team struggling with too many initiatives?

When we look at the current list of improvement initiatives, the supply chain team would be clearly overwhelmed. Their attention and cognitive effort get divided over so many initiatives that none of them delivers the desired result.

It’s quite common to find that just one initiative, taken now, could give you 60-70% of the business benefits that you are currently aiming for through these plethora of initiatives. Zeroing in on that initiative is the key.

Let me give you some hints. It will relate to one of the leverage points. Likely to be at the overall system constraint. Or a significant bottleneck in a factory. Or a major obstacle coming in the way of aligning supplies with demand.

If the constraint lies in consumer demand, the initiative could be Demand Sensing, which deciphers the emerging demand continually and informs all the backend supply actions.
