How agile is your supply chain?
Companies spend significant time, effort and money in creating supply chain dashboards. These often get so overcrowded that we get drowned in figures and charts.
Luckily, there is a much simpler way to find out if your supply chain is more agile than your competitors. Go to the nearest store which stocks your products as well as your competitors’. Check the on-shelf availability. If your product is stocked out but the competitors’ products are present, you have an availability issue. Check out a few more stores to get convinced. Check out on a few more days to see if your observation is consistent.
If all products are available, turn the packs and check the manufacturing date. Which one is fresher? Repeat in a few more stores and on a few more days.
You will very quickly realize if your supply chain has an availability issue or a freshness issue or both.
This is the first step in making your supply chain more agile.
