The tyranny of small decisions in Supply Chains
Supply Chain teams need to take several decisions every day. This can be quite exhausting for the team members. While a few of these decisions are impactful, others are often just the routine ones.
What can we do to reduce the sheer number of such decisions to be taken by the team? How should we release their precious time for more value-adding work?
Some of these decisions are just bureaucratic in nature. These should be either automated or rule-based, which can be executed by an empowered front line. We need to check if some company policies are coming in the way, which should be amended for a more agile execution.
Only the high impact decisions should come to the team members, for handling real exceptions.
When was the last time you automated some routine decisions and developed rules for others?
