Agentic AI in Supply Chain is a game changer.
Of late, we have seen Agentic AI solutions getting deployed in supply chains. These have potential to improve the supply chain performance significantly.
We have seen two different approaches being taken by companies.
The first one aims at automating various time and effort-intensive manual tasks performed repeatedly. It frees up the time of operating people for more value-added work, besides resulting in some small cost reduction.
The second approach aims at using Agentic AI for more intelligent work, such as reducing potential stockouts and surplus inventory build-up. The deployment identifies such exceptions on an ongoing basis and recommends mitigation actions. While some of it can be done in the current planning solutions, it is difficult to do it well at scale. We have seen such deployments giving far bigger business benefits.
