Conversations with start-ups reveal their agile mindset.
I have been keenly observing my conversations with supply chain teams of start-ups as well as of their more formidable, established industry leaders. A couple of differences give a glimpse into their differing mindsets.
Start-ups focus much more on product availability and freshness, whereas industry leaders seem to be more focused on cost optimisation. It’s the key difference which shapes the design of their supply chains.
The other key difference is their focus on certain processes. While industry leaders crave for certainty and improving their forecast accuracy, start-ups are comfortable with uncertainty and rarely discuss forecast accuracy. Their emphasis is on improving supply chain agility to meet the evolving demand patterns.
No wonder start-ups are thriving in the current context of market volatility and new channels like eCommerce and Quick Commerce.
Would love to hear your observations on the success of start-ups…
