What really constrains our performance in marathon runs?

When I finished my 18th Half Marathon run at Tata Mumbai Marathon yesterday, the new route on the Coastal Road was a surreal experience, triggering various creative thoughts. That’s where I had a unique realisation on what really constrains our run performance. How do we give our best at each run? How do we subordinate everything during practice to this constraint? And finally, how do we elevate the constraint to perform better in future?

It also confirmed my belief in how useful Theory of Constraints (TOC) is in improving the performance of any system.
