Have companies internalized the concepts of agility in Supply Chain?
Most leading companies have realized the importance of supply chain agility and have embarked on the journey to implement it. The important point is… Is it just a battle cry or have they internalized it?
You can check it out yourself. If the time taken to convert a Purchase requirement to Purchase Order takes two weeks, can we call it an agile process? If participants come into a meeting half an hour late, is it an agile culture? If an investor complaint takes weeks to resolve, is it agility? If vendor payments are delayed most of the time, has agility been internalized?
Agility in supply chain can be brought about only if the concepts of sensing, flexibility and responsiveness are internalized across all facets in the organisation.
It’s a wakeup call…
